About Us
“Today’s resilient communities for a better tomorrow”
Founded in 1996, Ntengwe for Community Development works with civil society partners, government departments, line ministries, allies, traditional leaders, and grassroots groups to build the capacity for the most vulnerable communities to be development change agents themselves, protect lives in times of crisis and build resilience towards lasting solutions and change.
We rely on the communities’ local knowledge, practices and movements, in which everyone can speak up to claim their human rights, and build a better future for themselves. This means addressing issues like child protection, health and education, social and climate justice, land and economic empowerment.
Who are we
Ntengwe believes in the power of people working together to bring about meaningful change. We support community-led local initiatives which ensure readiness for change and ownership of the change process.
How we work together
We work in Zimbabwe and with partners in 12 African countries, allies and communities to campaign for sustainable lasting change, build the capacity and leadership of grassroots groups and our partners; and linking them to broader social change movements.
Our history
Ntengwe for Community Development was the inspiration of a group of women who had the vision to share their knowledge and efforts to fight against injustice. Ntengwe, together with partners, grassroots groups and movements at the local, national and international level are organizing communities to build better health, wealth, equality, climate justice and a better tomorrow for all.
Our finances and accountability
Between 2017-2020 we reached 106,958,00 people in Zimbabwe and through partnerships in 12 African countries, 80% being to help women and children.
